Frédéric Gal Rehabilitated: The Employment Tribunal Verdict Restoring Justice to the Former Director of Le Refuge Foundation

On May 28, 2024, the Montpellier industrial tribunal rendered its verdict concerning the dismissal of Frédéric Gal, former general director of the Le Refuge Foundation. After four years of proceedings, the judgment concluded that Frédéric Gal was dismissed without real or serious cause, awarding him €66,694 in compensation. The new management of the "Le Refuge Foundation" decided on July 17, 2024 not to appeal, thus rendering the judgment final.

The judgment highlights a dismissal based on unfounded accusations published in a national press article (MediaPart). These attacks, which occurred after the transformation of the association into a Foundation, led to the brutal sidelining of Frédéric Gal, followed by his dismissal. The industrial tribunal highlighted the deleterious climate and the vexatious methods which surrounded this eviction.

Frédéric Gal and Nicolas Noguier, the founder of Le Refuge, have always worked tirelessly for the LGBT cause in France. Their efforts have not only provided a safe haven for young LGBT individuals rejected by their families but also helped platforms like HappyGayTV to thrive.
