The Paramount Importance of Gay Pride: Voices and Messages from the LGBTQI+ Community

Gay Pride is much more than just a colorful and festive parade celebrating the diversity of sexual orientations and gender identities. This annual event is of paramount importance in the fight for the rights of LGBTQI+ people. Gay Pride: An Affirmation of LGBTQI+ Identity and Visibility

Gay Pride provides a powerful platform for LGBTQI+ people to assert themselves, express their identity and display their visibility. By openly celebrating their sexual orientation and gender identity, participants and spectators send a strong message to society: they exist, they are proud of who they are, and they deserve to be respected and accepted.

The fight for equal rights

Gay Pride is a demonstration that reminds us that the fight for equal rights is far from over. Despite significant advances in many countries, LGBTQI+ people continue to face discrimination, homophobia, transphobia and many forms of inequality. Gay Pride offers an opportunity to raise public awareness of these issues and to advocate for equal rights, whether in marriage, adoption, the rights of trans people, access to healthcare adequate health or protection against violence and discrimination.

Solidarity and community support

Gay Pride is a moment of solidarity and community support where LGBTQI+ people feel surrounded, accepted and celebrated. By coming together at this festive event, participants strengthen community bonds and create a safe space where they can be themselves without fear of judgment or rejection. The massive presence of allied supporters during Gay Prides also demonstrates that the fight for equality is not only that of the LGBTQI+ community, but that it concerns society as a whole.

Hello, my little ones, Hello to all! Welcome to HappyGayTV and I'm very happy to have you back! We have landed, a few days ago, on the island of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands, where it is currently taking place, where we are filming these clips: The Gay Pride! Here, the Gay Pride, is a 15 days event! And we wanted to, just to walk around a few moments with our cameras, and find out, what people thought of this Gay Pride,

or more precisely, we asked them the following question, why was it important for them to be here, in Mas Palomas, during this great event! Cue report! Attention, this is not for the faint of heart, nor puritans ! We didn't even know it was gay pride. We just booked the holiday a few months ago. We've arrived and it just makes the holiday even more because it's so much fun. I think you know whatever sexuality you are,

it doesn't matter, as long as people are having fun and enjoying and respecting each other that's great. Why is it important for me to be on gay pride. I don't know. It's important for me because other people can show her face and we'll be hit in the face and I can show my face for Gay, to be gay. Because I support people. I'm very open minded and I like to see everybody coming together, it’s very nice.

It's the best place to be in a Gran Canaria. You can't get a gay pride anywhere else. I've been to other countries around the world and just rubbish. The Gay pride, I find it very beautiful, a wonder. The truth is that it's an unforgettable experience for one day a year! They should do it more than once a year because it's international! Different nationalities different genders. Solidarity is a very special thing for the Canary Islands

and for the whole world. This is the first time I've been here. I was advised to come here. I wanted to go to Sitges, (Spain) at the beginning. And then some of my friends told me that I should have come here, It was two weeks of continuous celebrations! We arrived yesterday and then... first discovery last night with the party that was here, the number of people, the music,

It was really nice! Sun, sea, fun! Everything! Gay Pride is very important because we bring everyone together and we can talk to everyone and people are from all over the world! I think you know the gay pride is one of the ways to express our feelings sometimes. You know because now I remember in the past when that was impossible and now it’s a good way to express how we feel, you know especially in this day.

To know what is the ... what is the problem for gay people, in other countries. And how does it work being gay in the bigger cities or small villages. Here, it's nice to have this kind of connection. In Munich it’s not so much fun like here, is some more free, I feel. It's more happiness and Munich is more, more like business.

It's important to represent, I'm bi, and be represented in pride because it's a lovely gathering of like minded people coming together peacefully for a lovely event. Well, Gay Pride it's all about being proud to be gay and being over here and sharing it with everyone and stuff. So we all come together in Gran Canaria for some sun, some drink, bit shag, and basically to totally get wrecked and totally get pissed and just have enough truly fab time and just say to the world. Look! We're all gay and we're not giving away,

so get frigging used to it, okay! So I thank you! For a gay person. Yes I support it 100 percent and Cheyenne's where I work is the best place you can go to. And we're going to celebrate and support gay Carnival 100 percent. Bye fans.

Well, there you go. my little ones, now it's ... It's up to you ! You can now click immediately, on the link that will pop up. on this screen, to comment or add to this street interview, by leaving us with either audio messages, or video messages! And then, most importantly, don't forget if you liked this video, feel free to share it, as much as you can, on social networks!

I look forward to seeing you soon and most importantly, take good care of yourself. Bye! Bye!
