The lingering ravages of homophobia: poignant testimonies from two former leaders of the "Le Refuge" foundation
Homophobia remains a devastating scourge that continues to cause countless suffering and discrimination around the world. Despite legislative and social advances, many LGBTQ+ individuals face hostility, ostracism and violence because of their sexual orientation. In this poignant video, two former managers of the "Le Refuge" foundation, Laura Bacheville and Frédéric Gall, testify to the tragic consequences of homophobia and highlight often overlooked realities. This article examines the various aspects of homophobia depicted in the video, highlighting the lack of family support, the consequences on housing and self-esteem, and the efforts made to combat this scourge. Now watch this video and his testimony as moving as it is staggering and don't hesitate to react now directly on our internal messaging service, the Hot-Line, by leaving us an audio or video message telling us that it relates to this report. : Facing homophobia. Lack of family support: heartbreaking loneliness
Homophobia differs from other forms of discrimination in that LGBTQ+ individuals are often deprived of family support when they need it most. Young people who reveal their homosexuality or gender identity are sometimes kicked out of their homes, leaving them homeless and destitute. The video highlights that some of them are forced into prostitution to survive, while others are hunted down by their own families, exposing them to mortal danger, often when religion is very strong within the family. as Laura Bacheville explains to us. Fortunately, organizations such as "Le Refuge" provide a safe and confidential refuge for these young people in distress.
Homophobia and housing: fleeing psychological pressure
Faced with the psychological pressure generated by homophobia, many LGBTQ+ individuals are forced to leave the family home to preserve their mental well-being. The toxic atmosphere created by homophobic parents can be unsustainable, causing these young people to seek out healthier and more welcoming environments. The apartments of the "Refuge", whose address is kept secret, then become havens of peace for these individuals in search of security and acceptance.
Homophobia: a heartbreaking loneliness among LGBT people, exacerbated by restrictive religious beliefs
In the video, it is explicitly mentioned that LGBTQ+ youth who find themselves in mortal danger often face heightened hostility when their families are heavily influenced by restrictive religious beliefs. Writings such as in the Bible, the book of Leviticus 20:13, which condemns homosexuality, or even quotations from the Koran, Sura 7, verse 80-81, which equate homosexuality with a sin, can reinforce the homophobia within certain communities.
When religion is used to justify and perpetuate homophobic attitudes, LGBTQ+ youth can find themselves isolated, facing heartbreaking loneliness. The video highlights the inner conflict they face, seeking to reconcile their sexual orientation or gender identity with the religious teachings that condemn them.
It is important to note that despite these writings, many people of faith are allies and active supporters of LGBTQ+ individuals. However, when religious beliefs become a barrier to acceptance and unconditional love, the distress of LGBTQ+ young people is exacerbated, reinforcing the need for support structures such as “Le Refuge”.
It is in this complex context that social workers, LGBTQ+ rights activists and organizations like "Le Refuge" strive to offer valuable support to young people in distress, seeking to create spaces where they can find understanding. , listening and solidarity, regardless of their sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
It is crucial to promote an open and respectful dialogue between religious communities and LGBTQ+ people, in order to foster mutual understanding, deconstruct prejudices and promote peaceful coexistence. The fight against homophobia should not be seen as a conflict between sexual orientation and spirituality, but rather as a common quest for human dignity, respect and compassion towards all individuals, regardless of their identity.
Internalized homophobia: damage to self-esteem
Frédéric Gal, former director of the "Refuge" and author of the book "Social work with victims of homophobia", underlines another dimension of homophobia: internalized homophobia. He explains how this form of homophobia leads LGBTQ+ individuals to internalize negative stereotypes and social prejudices, which leads to a decrease in their self-esteem. This self-deprecation can lead to mental health problems, relationship difficulties and a deterioration in the general well-being of those affected.
Fighting homophobia: the importance of education and awareness
Faced with the ravages caused by homophobia, it is imperative to actively fight against this insidious discrimination. Frédéric Gal shares in the video his information work in schools, highlighting the importance of education and awareness to fight prejudice and promote acceptance of sexual diversity.
By teaching young people the values of respect, equality and tolerance from an early age, it is possible to prevent and reduce acts of homophobia. Inclusive education programs that promote diversity of sexual orientations and gender identities help create safe and caring school environments for all students.
It is also crucial to educate adults, including parents, teachers and politicians, about the harmful consequences of homophobia and the importance of actively supporting LGBTQ+ individuals. Information and awareness-raising campaigns can help change mentalities, promote solidarity and create inclusive spaces where everyone can flourish freely, without fear of discrimination or violence.
In parallel, legal actions aimed at strengthening the protection of the rights of LGBTQ+ people and punishing homophobic acts must be taken. Laws and policies must reflect the values of equality and non-discrimination, thus providing a solid basis for eradicating homophobia in all areas of society.
Conclusion :
The video highlights the continuing ravages of homophobia today, highlighting the lack of family support, the consequences on housing and self-esteem, and the existence of internalized homophobia. However, it also carries a message of hope by highlighting the efforts made to combat this scourge.
Raising awareness, educating and creating inclusive environments is essential to preventing homophobia and providing adequate support to LGBTQ+ individuals. Through diversity-respecting education and proactive political and legal action, we can work together to build a society where every person, regardless of sexual orientation, can live freely, safely and proudly. The fight against homophobia is a collective responsibility that requires continuous mobilization and a firm commitment to equal rights for all.

The first times, when I arrived at the Refuge.... I was quite shocked.... I didn't sleep for.... so much, I'm... I was actually taking right in the face, realities I didn't know about. Homosexuality is... it's the devil. It's more than a rejection, it's... it's a life-threatening situation. "Well, if everyone's just reiterating to me that I'm not normal, if everyone's just telling me that I'm unnatural, if everyone's just repeating to me. that I shouldn't have existed...
it's that most certainly, indeed, I shouldn't have existed"...
Today, you'll be surprised! Today it's truth day. After four years of fighting against homophobia, within the Parisian delegation of the French association, "Le Refuge", Laura Bacheville, will reveal to you what was her biggest surprise, when for the first time, she was really confronted with reality, meaning, when she found herself in charge of young people who have been rejected by their families because of their sexual orientation, or their gender identity! A shocking report, that did not leave Frederic Gal indifferent,
the Director General of the Refuge, present today with us on this set, and author of the book: "Le travail social auprès des victimes d'homophobie" (Social work with victims of homophobia) who will explain to us why homophobes can also be gays themselves and you'll see the devastation it can do to our lives! And thank you for supporting Roselyne as of now, by clicking on the "Like" button because she's a little bit apprehensive about this show today! Not to mention, of course, your best comments, left on the "HappyGayTV Hotline"
Hello my "little ones", hello to all of you ! I hope you are doing well! Today, it's lightning raid, against the self-righteous,... those who think it's legitimate for them, to reject homosexuals and transsexuals, in obedience to their God, or a certain morality. And who, as we will see, in a moment do wrong, rather than good, unlike what religions, and morals usually advocate. Demonstration, with this report that we are going to introduce to you now a report that has moved all those who, in some way or another, have been involved in its creation.
From the receptionist at the Fabrik Hotel (Paris), in the lobby where we shot these images, through our assistants, editors, sound recorder... I' m certainly forgetting some of them.... Not a single one, remained indifferent to Laura Bacheville's revelations. Because what do we all know here, us, who are very kindly settled in our home, well warm and fuzzy behind our screens,... about homophobia, transphobia and the devastation caused by such discrimination? What do we know, us, the little bourgeois, about the daily lives of these young people who have been rejected by their families, for very unfounded reasons.
and who have to fight daily for their survival? So it was time, for you, as for me, to take stock. That's why I met Laura Bacheville, just for you, Laura, who is a consultant in Social and Family Economics and who after spending 4 years in the Parisian delegation of the national association "Le Refuge" (Refuge or Shelter) has graciously taken stock of her career and on her work with excluded young people. A shocking report of truth. Take a look! The first times, when I arrived at the Refuge.... I was quite shocked....
I didn't sleep for.... I don't know how long, so much, I'm... I was actually taking right in the face, realities I didn't know about. I arrived at the Refuge, just by chance. I didn't necessarily ask myself any questions, because I.... I mean, I wasn't concerned in my surroundings,.... or very rarely, and I didn't realize it, how much ... there could be homophobia within the family, and that we could be rejected because of of our own sexual orientation. Homophobia, compared to other forms of discrimination,
...what's the difference, it's when you get back to your family... for any other, we can call it discrimination, you are still accepted by your family, but for this discrimination, if the family is not supporting you, well, then you're really alone. At the Refuge, we have different situations. We have young people being put out on the street, by their families, so overnight,
they find their things on the... on the doorstep. And... they have to leave. But we also have the situation where the young people, they can' t take it anymore, this homophobia,... within their families and in their homes, so they are forced to run away. It could be,...sequestration. They can be,...things that can appear to be harmless, but still could be very, very violent: - "Well, yes, but you... you're not going to eat with us at the table."
or: ... - "No, you don't mix your laundry... with the others, because, you can spread it, to other people." As a matter of fact, homosexuality is really... shown as a disease, something negative That's what we call latent homophobia, which means that.... there are no violent demonstrations.... such as physical violence, it's... more twisted. We're going to... show the kid,... that he has no place in the family,
and that can be "as" violent as... physical violence, after all. We also have young people fleeing their country.... because of their sexual orientation. I think, young people,...who are from Morocco... from Albania....Africa in general. When religion is very prevalent, within families, most of the time, it's a problem. There you go. Homosexuality is... it's the devil. It's more than a rejection, it's... it's a life-threatening situation. We have young people who are in danger of death, who are being protected at the apartments,
which is why we have addresses that are secret. We've put everything in place, for the young one' s safety. We have young people who are going on the lookout. It can go very, very far that. It's more than: - "I'm putting you out on the street and I don't want to see you ever again." Well, this is already very violent, but we have even worse. At the Refuge, there was no such thing as a situation, where it has gone that extreme.... where there was a death caused by the family.... there was no... no actual murder.
But we had young people who could have been held captive, we had... young people who committed suicide, due to their uneasiness, the rejection of family, the rejection of loved ones, rejection at school. And this uneasiness can be translated into... to the extreme by suicide attempts. It can be risk-taking situations, with.... drugs, alcohol.... Let's say, the thing that was most shocking to me, was prostitution. The... the young people, who... who were concerned by prostitution, they were young people who had been rejected very early in their family.
and in the end, it was the only solution for them to survive. They had no choice. To have a place to stay at, they were forced to be prostitutes, in fact, it's either they were out on the street, or they were being hosted. And they've fallen rather quickly, let's say, in... in this system, in this spiral of prostitution.... so that they can be safe. Young people,...often explained to me that... they didn't need to look for long, before finding someone to take them in in exchange for sexuality.
So we consider it prostitution. Even if money is not really involved directly. About two-thirds of young people I met,... were prostitutes. And for me, male prostitution, it didn't exist... or very little. And I realized that finally that it was very significant and... So, at the shelter, we take in homosexual boys, but also homosexual women, therefore lesbians. They, we'll say, are a little less concerned by the prostitution side,.... at least from what I've seen, and what I could hear Because, the young people, they tell us what they want as well.
On the other hand, there are transgender people, ...who are also involved in prostitution. And to get out of it,.... they also need external help.... To help them there is no miracle recipe, we really work with each and every one of them, and with every single individuality, because everyone has potentialities they don't know about. So the goal now is to restore their confidence. And then, from there,... so, the whole self-confidence aspect,...well-being,... is very important to be able to talk about reintegration afterwards.
Because when you're not well,... you can't move forward in life, in fact. So the first goal, of the Refuge and... and in terms of the work I did there, It was, "Okay, you just got here." "Let's take a look at your situation." "You're going to take the time to settle down, to feel good, to see a psychologist, if you wish, to take time for you, and to know what you want from now on..."
There, well, these are fine words,... it's true that we were discussing it but you only realize, sometimes, it can take months, even years during that period. That's it, it's clear, from now on, no one of us should say he didn't know about it before! To comment on this report, in a moment, we will welcome Frederic Gal, the National Director of the Refuge, who will explain why, this homophobic persecution, even though it doesn't seem like it, does, in addition to what we just saw,
terrible devastation, which we don't necessarily think about. And you'll see how interesting it is! But first of all, exceptionally, we will do, right now, a little detour to the HappyGayTV Hot-Line because to tell you the truth, I'm a little worried, because I've just been told that Roselyne, is about all over the place and about to lose her mind ! Hello Roselyne, how is it going? Roselyne, what's the matter with you?..... - Well, how's it going, Marco?! How is it going! I came here to laugh
Ah, it says "Happy" on the door. What does all of this even mean? Besides, I guess we're gonna have to pick up on this ! Well, about the report, not about the girl, of course! (Crying) Come back later, please, I'm not comfortable here! (Crying) Well Roselyne, get better,... everyone is counting on you, in a few moments, though!
Take a deep breath, you'll feel better! (Laughs) I don't think it's a foregone conclusion! But we'll see... I think if you all hit the "Like" button, from now on, on this video, you're going to fix her for us in no time! [Jingle HappyGayTV] Hello FrÈdÈric Gal, you are the National Director of the French association: "Le REFUGE" and author of the book: "Le travail social auprès des victimes d'homophobie" (Social work with victims of homophobia) at ASH Editions Thank you for coming from Montpellier, in the south of France,
to be present with us today, in our studio in Paris. Any comments, any reactions, after seeing Laura Bacheville's interview? What I think, is to be learned from this... of this interview here, this report, it's, uh, the aspect, that she didn't expect to see, when she arrived at the Refuge. Because often, we have the impression... by the way, the training of social workers,... by definition, it doesn't include this issue of homosexuality, it doesn't include this issue of homophobia.... and by definition,....
people who arrive at the Refuge, are a little confronted with a reality that they didn't necessarily imagine at first. And I think she has transcribed it very well and accurately, that difficulty she had when she arrived to have to take on, full whips, complicated, embarrassing situations,... Burdensome situations also for young people who arrive to our place, because they got kicked out of their homes or because of what they told their parents, that they were homosexual,
or that the parents discovered that they were homosexual. Because often,... whether in vocational training or in day-to-day life, we can't imagine that homosexuality is so demanding. and that it' s just as embarrassing, and that it... and that homophobia has a lot to offer, still... Frédéric, in this report, Laura Bacheville talks about prostitution, do all the young people who are at the Refuge
are equally concerned by this problem? When they arrive at our facility,.... some have already been involved in prostitution, others have not necessarily known about it... The kids end up on the street. They find themselves with nothing, or they find themselves at a friend's house. They have to eat... Some of them have to buy cigarettes, some people have to buy themselves .... of course, something to eat, to wear, etc. But, it's the only way some people have found, to be able, well, to be able...
to live, just as simple as that. This is called survival prostitution. Then there is comfort prostitution, which is a little complicated. because many believe that there is no such thing as comfort prostitution, But we can see it Some are housed, fed and laundered, and yet they are prostitutes, while they have... no... no specific reasons to do so. Because prostitution is a spiral. Prostitution is a spiral in which young people sometimes get caught up.
We, our goal,... main goal, is to get the teenager to understand that there are other ways... that there are other,.... I would say other paths. than the path...of prostitution, and show them that... they can be happy,... they can have money, but.... But by relying on other capabilities.... than those that had previously been solicited. In this report, Laura Bacheville explains that the youngsters
are excluded by those around them, including at school. You say in your book that you do also many interventions in schools, and I was relatively surprised by the way young people see homosexuality. Well... the youngster, sees homosexuality from a different perspective. First perspective,... he sees it as a: "Who cares?" The homosexual doesn't bother us.... as long as he does what he wants on his side, as long as he doesn't come near me, everything's fine... And then there is an opposite perspective. The youngster doesn't accept homosexuality, at all he or she thinks it's a... a very abnormal thing,
very unnatural, very unacceptable, above all, we don't want to hear about it. And then,... there's a middle ground,... that's not bothered as long as he or she is not directly affected... he or she doesn't mind. But well, it's not very clear, and... many young people, most of them, by the way. when asked,... if they don't mind. or if they're homophobic, they'll say no,... They are not homophobic.
But, ... if a friend of theirs tells them he's gay, and he starts a little bit to... talk to them,... without... without any sexual allusion, and if he starts talking to them, get closer to them, Well, they're gonna be a little uncomfortable. and they're going to reject him instead. It rekindles for some people, let's say fears, ... a bit unexplainable, but fears... Young people who say to themselves: "My God, but if he tells me he's gay,
he obviously wants to have a sexual relationship with me, he wants to hump me. Our goal is to explain to them that not only it's not the case, but that homophobia is not just about I'll smash your face. Homophobia is going to be too, a manner, a behavior. There are no homophobic people, in the intrinsic sense of the word, there are homophobic acts, homophobic behaviour, and homophobic ways of doing things
And that's what we want,... that's what we're trying to address, sorry, the young people, and what it is, they need to realize, that they are the very perpetrators of these acts. And you say in your book that homosexuality is perceived by young people as an bestial and primary act, how do you explain that? The problem is the very word homosexuality, that happened in the 1970s We're talking about homosexuality. so we're talking about sexuality.
When we talk about a heterosexual couple, they're called a couple. When it comes to a gay couple, we call them homosexuals. So, already, there is a semantic difference made on... the type of relationship you imagine for, for homosexual couples,... that we can only imagine, indeed, through the prism of sexuality. And... and inevitably what will disturb homosexuality... mainly masculine homosexuality, it's the sexual act. It's this kind of bestial act that young people imagine.
While... in female homosexuality, there's some sort of,...sweetness,... and it's also maybe,.... the perception we have of women. A sort of sweetness, to... to say well, It's okay, it's fine... it's... alright, It's not... it's not disturbing. when, of course, it's disturbing.
And of course, for many young people it confuses them tremendously. We talked a lot in this report about external homophobia that is, the entourage of gay youngsters, but you also describe very well in your book, another less-known form of homophobia but just as destructive, which is internalized homophobia, Can you explain to us, in a few words, what this is all about? There's external homophobia, that the person takes with full force.
The boyfriend, the girlfriend, the parents, the friends, in short... the people who are going to tell you: "You're a homosexual, it bothers me." who will say it, who will show it, who will demonstrate it through physical acts, verbal, moral, psychic, anyways... And internalized homophobia, which is ... the same concept, but instead of it being something external, it's something from within, is that the person,... at some point,... will internalize negative behaviours that he or she can hear. And not only will he or she internalize them,
but he or she's eventually going to make them, quite acceptable. This means that the person says to himself at some point: "Well, if everyone's just reiterating to me that I'm not normal, if everyone's just telling me that I'm unnatural, if everyone's just repeating to me. that I shouldn't have existed... it's that most certainly, indeed, I shouldn't have existed"... So... well, I'm going to believe it... And not only will I believe it, but, I will... be part of it, too, I'm gonna hate myself too, I'm gonna believe , that I'm not normal, I'm going to want to change too.
And internalized homophobia is when the person manages to internalize,... these homophobic behaviors, and finally turn them against himself or herself. So it's actually going to be scarification, for example, self-harm,.... addictive behaviors, prostitution is also part of it... When you're a prostitute, for some young people it's a way as well, you know, to put themselves in danger. it's also a way of taking risks,
it's also a way to punish themselves, and say to themselves: "Well, you see my body, is so much nothing for me, that I'm going to treat it like an object." And for other youngsters, the... internalized homophobia, will express itself,... in the end.... by suicide. Because indeed, people are thinking: "I am, so... I so should not have existed, and that the others were right." And the severity of internalized homophobia, is that the person..... ends up believing it
To get out of this internalized homophobia, It's very complicated. because, you have to get the person, not only to reconnect with his or her own.... I would say, his or her own self-esteem. which for some people is not something.... easy, ... and will require a lot of work. And once they've reconnected with themselves then they'll be able to live with it, and come to the realization that: Yes, indeed, one can be homosexual, or we can be "fags" as we may have been told, and still be very happy.
So, Frédéric, I would like to suggest that we take a look now at a first testimony, I asked Laura Bacheville if there was one, or more than one person that she had helped at the Refuge and that she remembered. Here is a first memento.... Have a look ! I would like to talk to you about two experiences... that have affected me The first one,.... it was someone who moved me a lot, because he was the first young man I was hosting at the Refuge,... that I was going to assist. As a social worker, you come in and you think,.... we're going to save the world.
It soon becomes clear that it's not that obvious. And so, this teenager,... He was what, 21 years old. when he arrived at the Refuge. Since he was 14 years old, he was... he left the house,... to the street. Because it wasn't going well at all, regarding his sexual orientation. Let's just say, it was still bigger than that, if you dig deeper. But let's say that the drop of water that made everything overflow... was his sexual orientation. He had a very rough background... He was never stable before.
He resorted to prostitution,... very, very young,...at 14 years old. And he came to the Refuge with this idea of: "I want to get out of it"! Except that we quickly realized that this unstable situation had caused him a lot of difficulties. He really didn't trust himself at all. and most importantly... he wasn't ready to pull through. He thought he could. So at first, we thought he could,
but we soon realized that his history of instability is the reason that today, he ended on the street. Since the,... the terms of the refuge,... offered to him,.... were too much .... for him. And then he decided to leave. So it was really his choice. And so we haven't had much news. And one day... I,... I was a little late,... I was running to the subway. and I found myself nose to nose with him. He was,...
I don't know if we can talk about it like that, but he was a tramp. So with his dog, his beer, and his joint in his hand. And I almost didn't recognize him, actually. He is someone who takes great care of himself. And then, there he was, he had a very long beard,... dirty fingernails,.... It's been, like, several months, actually, that he was out on the street. And today I.... He's a young man,... I don't know where he is... Frédéric, your reaction towards this young man
who finally ended up on the street, more precisely in the subway. Do you think this attitude is the consequence of the homophobia he carries within himself, his internalized homophobia? Or is it rather a set of factors.... For the young man who left the Refuge, unfortunately it's.... it's part of the,..... of the 25% of young people who leave the structure. Like... any shelter, there are bound to be, uh.... obligations to be respected
And then some of them are not necessarily in a position to do so. They're not in a position, maybe because of of their immaturity. They are not in a position to do so because.... they have... themselves problems with their own identity, whether it is sexual or regarding their gender.... and that necessarily,.... well,.... when we... when we can't,... assume everything,... when we can't, I'd say, ... to find yourself a spot in society, it's complicated to find one in a set of internal regulations. So it can be actually internalized homophobia, because....
this young man finally thinks: "I'm so not normal," or... or... "I should so not exist, that I don't even belong with them." But at the same time, it is also a sign for some teenagers , who say to themselves:... "Anyway, I'm comfortable, I want to be left alone, I'm choosing to be free, I want to live ... the way I want, I want to get up whenever I want to, I want to go home whenever I want to." And this desire for freedom also is the reason why,... some teenagers ,... find themselves on the street. No, I don't think he chose to say to himself: "Oh nice, I want to go back to the subway"!
But it is also, unfortunately,... some of the things that we can regularly encounter at the Refuge. Frédéric, we're going to close now with an optimistic tone, and show how much your action and that of the Refuge in the entire France is crucial, with this last testimony where Laura Bacheville, shows us that there are still some of the teenagers who are doing well, with the example of a person we might think a priori that it was not a foregone conclusion....
And yet.... The second scenario,.... it's the case of a young girl who's a transsexual, who arrived at the Refuge, who didn't necessarily know how to position herself. regarding her identity. She was a young woman who also started from afar. So... break up with the family,... initially, because of her sexual orientation.... and after that,.... because of her gender identity,.... Her relationship with her family not really.... ,... cut off clean. But, very, very much conflictual.
And she's a young woman, who was really full of good will. But until she accepts herself, her identity,.... her life, let's say, has been static. She stayed at the Refuge for almost a year and a half. The first year,... nothing changed,... and we were thinking, "But... what are we going to do? Nothing's happening with that young lady." And finally,... from the moment that she was able to find her place. The moment when she told us: "Don't call me a he or she, from now on, I'm a she" Everything has changed for her.
She found a job, she has blossomed... a lot. She's gone now, she has her... apartment. She has also started her transition journey... That's it, it's all well pinned down... And today, she... she's radiant, very feminine, very beautiful. When she will really find her balance, I think that.... her family, uh...
it'll be, it'll be good too. From the moment the person accepts him or herself, from the moment he or she is comfortable with him or herself, He or she can... move forward, with his or her life. There you go, Frederic, we're going to stay on this positive note. I would like to recall the title of your book: "Le travail social auprès des victimes d'homophobie" (Social work with victims of homophobia) at ASH Editions, which unfortunately currently only exists in French but that I recommend to everyone, even if you're not a social worker, because the causes and consequences of homophobia are very well described and analyzed
and it's also written in a French. that is truly understandable to all. A must have book. Thank you Frédéric Gal, and see you soon on HappyGayTV! Well, well, I don't know if you can hear it from here, but it sounds like they're singing on the Hot-Line! [When I was afraid, I was petrified] Roselyne apparently recovered from her emotions! [I will survive,]... I will survive! Yes, that's what I thought, she did survive, I swear to you! So, Roselyne?
How's it going at the Hot-Line? Well, listen, it's going very well. (Laughs) It's going very, very well, at the hotline I have a lot of messages. Laura Bacheville raises so many questions, and a lot of comments. So that's very good! HappyGayTV.com! And I'm waiting for you, to answer your questions. So right now, we will reply to....
Thibaut from Grattepanche (Belly-scratcher) in Somme (France), who, for acceptance, took the lead, and kicked his whole family out. Well, that's radical... his sisters, his mother.... He put their belongings on the doorstep.... Everything! Even the dwarf rabbit! (Laughs) It was probably a matter of allergy. All right, listen up Thibault, it's a bit radical, don't you think? There are still other ways, to get your homophobia accepted!
Uh... your homosexuality!..... What am I talking about? see! Oh no, it' s shocking to me! Especially the dwarf rabbit! Look,... it's snowing! Get him in! Huh, come on! You promise me Thibault, right? All right, let's keep going.... We have Edith from Cresson (Cress) (France), who talks about latent homophobia, and... Of homopho....
So, forgive me, but please, could you be a little more specific? on your comments and questions, because I,..... I don't really understand Edith, Who's tent are you talking about? I... I... Is it... Is it a riddle? Um, you want to trick me, don't you? Because I,... I'm good at riddles. I have... I have... the Little Larousse of the riddles, (Laughs)
Now I'm defeating everyone, all the way down to the ground! (Laughs) But I don't understand,.... homophobia, the aunt... Well,... I'll come back to you in a moment, I'll think about it, I'll move on for now, but I won't forget about you, Edith. But, careful! Be more specific!...... So!......
Uh, yeah, so I saw that, Thank you for letting me know. Yes, there is a group of young women, d'Angoisse (Angst) in Dordogne (France), who is getting a petition signed, so that Laura Bacheville can replace me, huh? at .... HappyGayTV. Well, then... no! (Laughs) Why would you do that? Huh,..... I have a contract,.... And then I think that,.....
I'm doing very, very well.... A beautiful woman like me! Laura Bacheville is very pretty, That I don't want to... I'm not going to tell you otherwise, am I? But she doesn't have the charisma, I can have on this set, I mean, I don't know,... Marco, what do you think? we'll see for the second season! Why? Why? for the second season! What do you mean, the second season?
Uh, I'm not aware of the fact that there will be a second season! Is there a second season, Marco? I'm coming back to you too, you, huh? Attention! I didn't sign anything for the second season! And I don't want to be replaced by just anyone! I want to be replaced by Roselyne, that is, myself! (Laughs) I'm actually going to carry on! Well, we'll talk about it later, uh... Marco! Second season... no but no shit...
No, no.... So,... who else do we have? Oh,..... Bertha! Berta from Fucking in Austria! Ooh! (Municipality of Tarsdorf) (Laughs) You can invite me for tea, any time, Bertha, huh! (Laughs) I'm coming straight to you! (Laughs) Fucking!......
(Laughs) In Austria, That sounds like a pretty town to me. So, uh..... She is asking if we accept each other, here, at HappyGayTV Very good question, Bertha! So Marco, do you accept it? who, what? do you accept yourself? haha, I don't know! A bit, yeah..... (laughs)
I have to! Yes, it must be said that, well, Marco,... he doesn't have much choice, to accept himself (Laughs) You're not too difficult! That's good! Life is not about this, it is about.... No, no, no.... I, at least, you know, Bertha, I accept myself... Yes, so yes, I know,... I have many advantages to be Roselyne, I'm beautiful, charismatic, intelligent, cultivated,...
funny! (Laughs) So I make a lot of envious people, That's for sure! And Marco tells me that sometimes, he says to me: "No, you have to do even more!" And I tell him: "No Marco! Better is the enemy of good"! (Laughs) I'm already fine! (Laughs)
So yes, I accept myself. You have to accept yourself, Bertha, Don't let anyone, tell you what you need to do, You dictate your choices. That's it! So, we have one more question, let's go for the last one... Uh, Vincent, coming from the 107 in Palaiseau, France thinks that the sofa, looks very comfortable Oh yes! Yes! The couch, from ... the report, yes! Yes, yes, it is very comfortable,
Marco and I tested it before the interview Well, tested it! We just sat on it,...quite simply! And uh, no, no, no, it's true that it was, very comfortable, very, very, comfortable.... Sitting,... (Laughs) concentrated... The coffee, the coffee we drank.... concentrated, um, um, um.

(Roselyne laughs) As you rightly said earlier, it also says "Gay" on the door! We're gonna have to have coffee together. one of these days, Roselyne, I need to explain some things to you. in detail, it seems to me.... Come on, let's proceed...
HappyGayTV's Jingle I know it's the moment you're all looking for, because this is your moment! Here are your comments, left in the last few days on HappyGayTV's Hot Line Hello everyone, I'm Leo! Thank you HappyGayTv for allowing me to watch this show in premiere as a fan of the early hours! I wanted to tell you how much I was impressed by Laura Bacheville's speech, which is truly enlightening.
And especially her way of showing that people who are victims of homophobia and transphobia have in some cases no support in their own family! And to put it this way, shows that people who proselytize against gay and trans people, are people who are not aware of the harm they can do, and how nauseating their ideas are. That's it, thank you for listening to me! Hello to everyone here, I'm Ludo!
I wanted to point out to all those who are watching us that you have to keep watching even after the end credits, as a surprise is waiting for you there! Thank you to the team because, it was very funny! I don't want to say more... Go and watch the video until the end! Thanks HappyGayTV, you made me laugh, while the testimony of Laura Bacheville, is not something to laugh about at all! HappyGayTV is well named! To fully understand the joke, you have to watch the entire show!
Thank you for your time! Hello, this is François! And I wanted to add a clarification, on what Frederic Gal said, when he talks about inexplicable fear, towards homophobia and transphobia. It's actually, in my humble opinion a fear that, on the contrary, can be explained! Yes, it's a reaction,
I was going to say, primal, somewhat animal. A reaction we all have, that always kicks in when confronted with something or an event that we don't know about. Who hasn't screamed or startled for example upon finding a snake hidden in an embankment a big spider, on a bed, or a very ugly and nasty monster, in a movie or a TV show?
But, this same fear can also be manifested in a much less demonstrative way, and more peaceful! And most importantly more pernicious! Particularly, when you have to deal with someone whom you don't know! A category of person, that you never used to be around. Of course, we're not going to jump down his throat, to tell him about our anguish,
but we'll let him know about our fear, through hostile signals, to make him understand, that he has to stay away from us. That's the reason why, as Frédéric Gal said, it's important to talk about gay and transgender people in school environments. In order to know them better, to understand that they are human beings like you and me,
and that we have no reason to be afraid of them! Certainly not more so than with any other human being on this planet! Bye, bye!
