Yvette Leglaire - Place aux femmes

For the brand new format of HappyGayTV & YOU, welcome to the vibrant and exuberant world of Yvette Leglaire, an inimitable artist whose career spans two decades. According to Marco Drion who hosts this show: "Yvette Leglaire is as well known in the Parisian Marais, the gay district of the French capital, as the Eiffel Tower in the world"! That’s saying something! In her new musical opus entitled "Place aux femmes," which some describe as very daring, Yvette Leglaire transports us into a universe rich in emotions, with deep texts which could at first glance seem saucy, but which if we look at them more closely, celebrate with great finesse and sensitivity, diversity and female influence. It is a vibrant tribute to women: “Without whom we would be no one, whether we are a woman or a man”. But that's not all, Yvette Leglaire also pays a poignant tribute to all "her sisters", all these singers who built her during her life and without whom, today, she would be nothing, in particular: Anne Sylvestre and Marie Paule Belle. Join us now in the special show on HappyGayTV, where Yvette shares her thoughts, anecdotes and answers ardent questions from followers on the Hot-Line, the channel's social network.

1-Artistic Collaboration: “Place aux Femmes”

Within the album "Place aux femmes," a musical gem resides in the title already released on a 3-track CD (LP) some time ago: "Places aux femmes." This song, a vibrant tribute to women, was initially available exclusively from Marianne Mélodie and remains accessible today.

  • The Genesis of “Places for Women” This unique work testifies to Yvette Leglaire's commitment and love towards her "sisters", her singer friends, those she worked with throughout her 20-year career. In this composition, Yvette Leglaire shares the microphone with an impressive ensemble of talented artists: DAISY D'ALBA, LUCID BEAUSONGE, MARIE PAULE BELLE, JACQUELINE BOYER, ELISABETH BUFFET, ANTOINETTE COLIN, SOPHIE DAREL, KARINE DUBERNET, JACQUELINE DULAC, YSA FERER, ISABELLE FERRON, NICOLE FERRONI, CORINNE HERMÈS, CHANTAL LADESOU, SANDY LR, MARIANNE SERGENT, FRANSCESCA SOLLEVILLE, STONE, MAMABÉA TÉKIELSKY, FABIENNE THIBEAULT, and ZIZE. This exceptional collaboration transcends simple musical creation and becomes a collective celebration of femininity, carried by the diversity of voices and talents which unite in an unforgettable artistic harmony. A magnificent tribute to women to listen to in full!
  • Places, Women, a Clip Note a subtlety in the spelling of the title: "Places aux femmes" with an S in the word "place," unlike the album which is titled "Place aux femmes" without an S. This nuance is not accidental and Yvette Leglaire, during the special broadcast, explains with emotion, thanks to the question from Thomas our follower, the reason for this spelling difference. For those who want an illustration of this difference, a clip has been made to accompany this song. The clip offers an obvious visual explanation of this subtlety.

2-Marie Paule Belle: Composer of Two Songs

Since this episode was filmed, Marie-Paule Belle has passed away. HappyGayTV would like to honour her memory and her immense talent.
At the heart of the album “Place aux femmes,” an exceptional collaboration took shape with the talented Marie Paule Belle. This icon of French song, known for his unique artistic sensitivity, made his musical contribution by composing the music for two notable songs from Yvette Leglaire's opus: "Je ne suis pas une Drag Queen" and "L'integrale by Marie Paule Belle.

  • The Musical Compositions of Marie Paule Belle
Marie Paule Belle, whose repertoire includes iconic songs such as “La Parisienne,” “Wolfgang et moi,” and “Quand nous seront amis,” is a major figure in French song. With her refined musicality, she offered Yvette LEGLAIRE two musical gems. In this show, Yvette LEGLAIRE explains why she chose Marie-Paule Belle to collaborate on this album and how this collaboration was born, in particular thanks to Matthieu MOULIN, the artistic director of Marianne Mélodie. These songs, imbued with the creative essence of Marie Paule Belle, add a special emotional depth to the album. The marriage of Yvette's exuberant voice and Marie Paule Belle's delicate compositions creates a captivating musical synergy. Also note that this renowned artist recently released a new album entitled “Un soir entre mille.”
  • The Texts of Yvette Leglaire
Let's dive into the themes explored by these two exceptional artists. Marie Paule Belle, recognized for her ability to compose moving pieces through her melodies, brings a unique artistic dimension to the album. “The Complete Marie Paule Belle” also represents a sincere tribute to this great French singer. The songs composed by her are not only musical pieces, but melodies which captivate the listener and which give a very particular depth to Yvette's text. This song recounts with great humor the setbacks of a widowed woman who, late in life, is looking for a young husband, so that he can inherit him! As for the title: "I'm not a Drag Queen", it's an opportunity for Yvette to say a little more about who she is, and in passing to settle scores amicably with her friends the Drag Queens! However, thanks to the intervention of two of our followers "Walter, the bookseller" and "Fabien, from Bar le Baroque in Paris", we will have the chance in this show to know a little more about who is hiding behind the strange character of Yvette Leglaire!

3- Chantal Goya Versus Anne Sylvestre?

Marie Paule Belle is not the only singer for whom Yvette Leglaire wrote a song. The title “Ma soeur Anne” is a poignant, not to say heartbreaking, tribute to Anne SYLVESTRE, who died on November 30, 2020 and for whom Yvette Leglaire has infinite admiration. A moving title, since Yvette tells us that she wrote this song “so as not to die” in turn! Anne Sylvestre is also an artist who was often opposed in the 80s to another singer: Chantal GOYA. Hence the question from Hervé, one of our followers, to find out if Yvette would be more Chantal, who is undoubtedly a Gay icon, or rather Anne. Without any surprise his answer will be in favor of Anne Sylvestre. Even if, as she says, Chantal Goya is the dream, the magic of children's stories. But for her Anne Sylvestre is an author “where every word counts”. That said Chantal Goya will not be left out, because in a certain way she is also a little present in this album, since one of the pieces was composed by her husband and producer Jean-Jacques DEBOUT: "Miss Brésil".

4- Yvette on Stage

Let's dive into the intimate world of Yvette Leglaire's live performances, where energy and humor merge in places that are dear to her, such as Point Virgule, this small, intimate setting that she particularly likes. Yvette shares with us her stage preferences, highlighting her love of more modest venues, where every look counts, thus preferring the warm atmosphere of Point Virgule to vast stages like Bobino.

  • The Small Rooms, Real Jewels For Yvette Leglaire, small rooms are like jewels where she can connect directly with her audience. Le Point Virgule becomes the theater of his emotions, a place where every facial expression is perceptible, and every laugh resonates in a singular way. The intimacy of these places offers a unique proximity, allowing Yvette to create a special bond with her audience. Beyond the shared laughter, Yvette Leglaire confides to us her love for small rooms, conducive to authentic encounters with her audience. After the shows, she takes pleasure in inviting spectators to share a drink, thus extending the bond created on stage. Yvette, an artist who adores people, delights in these moments of exchange where conversations sometimes go on for hours. For her, each spectator is a precious encounter, an opportunity to share the passion that drives her. During the show, Yvette treats us to a hilarious anecdote that occurred during one of her performances. A spectator, apparently disturbed, abruptly leaves the room, leaving Yvette LEGLAIRE uncertain as to what could have caused this hasty departure. Far from giving up, Yvette continues the show with her usual brilliance. However, the unexpected happens: the viewer returns almost a quarter of an hour later, revealing in a surprising turn of the video, the reason for his momentary absence. An anecdote full of humor which testifies to the unpredictability and charm of live performance. Thus, these anecdotes from shows reveal the very essence of Yvette Leglaire on stage: an artist who knows how to captivate small and large audiences, while creating unique and unforgettable bonds through humor, spontaneity and the shared love for the scene.

Why “Places aux femmes” Has an S

Hello, Yvette, this is Thomas from Charleville-Mézières. -Hello Thomas. I realized that on the title of the song, there was an S, whereas there wasn't on the album title. So, I wanted to know if this was intentional, if it was a typo or if there was another reason? Thanks a lot. Best wishes. Well, yes, I'll briefly rephrase what was said Here, as you can see

place aux femmes (Make room for women): There's no S in "place". Whereas in the title, the song title, there's an S Actually, it's on purpose, since the song : "Places aux femmes" (Squares about women) was a song about squares, Paris squares, and other squares from other cities. We need to "make room for women", by naming "squares about women". In other words, replace, the Place de la Gare, Place du Marché, Place de l'Église,

by the names of all the women I mention throughout this song, as it's a tribute to women. That's why we put an S at the end of "place": these are places (squares), however, the album itself, is called "Place aux Femmes" (Make room for women) because I'm a woman, so I sing women's songs. It was time for this album, to make room for women, by making songs, like "Ma Sœur Anne" (My Sister Anne), a tribute to my big sister, Anne Sylvestre. And then all the others. There you go.

These are songs by women, for women, and it's time to make room for women. and the other song is about squares, city squares. That's it! That's why we called it: "Places Aux Femmes" (Squares about Women) with an S It's not a typo! Everything, everything is carefully planned! "And if we renamed the streets, squares, boulevards, the avenues bearing so many common names, the Place du Marché, the Rue du Commerce, the Avenue de la Gare, by the names of extraordinary women, so that wherever we walk

to see their names on the walls We remember so that every time we write their address it's a tribute to them HappyGayTV ! The Women Behind the Album

Hi Yvette, so you've come up with a great title called "Places aux femmes" (Squares about women), and I was wondering where all this love you had for... for these women come from and how did you choose them? Ah, thank you, Aurélien. Orelian! for asking me this question. Well, as you know. there was an initial lockdown, then a another one. And during the second lockdown, I realized that we were going to get to the years two thousand twenty three, two thousand twenty four,

But I figured this is it. These are my 20th years since I started in 2000, I came back on stage in 2002 for my first "comeback show", my first shows, were in 2004, at the Théâtre du Tambour Royal in Paris. And I said to myself, to celebrate 20 years, I need to do something new. And then, there are all these singers and actresses I've met during these 20 years, I wanted to share a song with them.

So I reached out to them: only female singers, with whom ... and actresses, with whom I've shared something, during those 20 years. So it's not a coincidence. I actually picked them. And the great thing is, they all said: "Yes"! And what's more, it seems to me that Marie Paule Belle did much more, since not only she interpreted the song.

She also helped with another song! She actually wrote two originals for my album. This is an amazing moment. I can't even tell you, it's my love. She's my sister. She's my goddess. She's indeed divine, Marie-Paule Belle. We've met before. I did a parody of : "La Parisienne", called "La Burlesque". Marie Paule loved it. And I didn't dare ask her

if she'd be willing to write music. And I called Matthieu Moulin, artistic director of Marianne Mélodie. I said to him, listen, listen, Matthieu perhaps you'd dare ask if Marie Paule would accept, well, for real, if she doesn't accept, it's okay. And Marie Paule said: "Of course, right away! Tell Yvette to stop by." I showed up with my lyrics. She was there, playing the piano. She was making music. Well, no, that's not .... But I was so happy!

And then, we took our time and she really put all her love, all her talent as a composer to create two wonderful musical pieces : one is called: L'Intégrale de Marie Paule Belle and the other is called: "Je ne suis pas une Drag Queen". (I'm not a Drag Queen) [Sung] I married a nice boy, a lover of my songs It's not about trifling, For his love is spiritual He's always in a good mood, incessantly showering me with flowers And he gave me for Christmas all of Marie Paule Belle

What About Dalida?

Yvette, - Yes? I've been listening to "Places aux femmes" over and over. - Ah, that's nice. And myself performing in , Montmartre Galabru theater, no more comedy. I noticed that Dalida wasn't there - Oh, come on! with these famous and incredible women. So I think another album is definitely needed. So, bravo to you and I wish you all the best! I rebel, I rebel! Of course there's Dalida, come on!

I couldn't have written this song, without thinking of Dalida! By the way, it's Sophie Darel, who sings at this moment! Of course, Dalida is my whole life. And besides, I paid tribute to Dalida in the first album, with a song called : "Son soir de Gala", (Her Gala night) or "Soir de Gala". (Gala night) I can't remember, which is a song I wrote a very long time ago and Dalida had read the lyrics. Ah! - That's it. She told me I can't sing the titles of my songs. She sent me a note.

Well, let's check it out, Yvette, you're right. Dalida is in the song! - See, I told you! [sung] "Make room for women... Make room for women...

Ah, come on! Sylvie, Rika, Dalida! - There you go! And it's Sophie Darel singing. - Okay. My great friend, my great sister Sophie Darel. For those who weren't born, she was... Guy Lux's partner. - He was a great TV host in the 60s and 70s. Shows where there were songs. We were playing 45s all the time, non-stop, non-stop. Everyone was singing! The '70s,

those were the happy years! HappyGayTV, happy ! Just like Fred Faure, create your account and share your magic. The HappyGayTV community is waiting for you, now! Just like Fred Faure, create your account and join us on the Hot-Line to make our star shine even brighter, now ! HappyGayTV, <happy!

Anne Sylvestre or Chantal Goya?

Well, hello my dear Yvette, quick question. - Yes! - We know you like Anne Sylvestre a lot. - Of course I do. -You don't often talk about Chantal Goya, who's a gay icon, - Of course. - Which of these 2 artists is your favorite? - That's my dear Hervé! He asks me to compare two wonderful artists. Chantal Goya and Anne Sylvestre. Both are in the song: "Places aux Femmes"

It was hard to get Anne Sylvestre to sing, because names should rhyme. So, I couldn't find any other names with "estre", Sylvestre. I couldn't find any actresses, singers, politicians who could really rhyme with Anne. But I wouldn't worry too much about it since in the album, I have a tribute song to Anne, called "Ma Soeur Anne" (My Sister Anne) about her passing. And it's a song I wrote with all my heart. I was so, so unhappy,

when Anne left us. And so, in this song, though, there's a desperation in saying that you wrote this song, because you can't seem to live with her death, if you don't write this song. That's ... -Yes, actually, Actually, I wrote it quite quickly, because because it had to happen, it had to come out. Obviously, I used a few sentences like: "Write so you don't die" or...

"I'm looking for my way", because it just came, it came like that, in the chorus. This song, is more than a musical coup de coeur. I just had to do it! I really had to... I don't know how to say but my heart, my heart was bleeding too much and... and I was totally sad, so very sad. It's still hard... - Well, actually are you still more of an Anne Sylvestre than Chantal Goya?

I don't even know... You can't compare. I'm Anne Sylvestre and that's it! My whole life. For me, she's the greatest French songwriter. She wrote such wonderful pieces! Every word is important with Anne. And for Chantal, it's... It's all about having fun. It's all about the dream. She's our youth and she's the dream. There you go, Anne Sylvestre at over 100%, of course. [Sung] Anne, my sister Anne,

I can't see it coming Anne, my sister Anne, what will I become? If I'm writing to you, it's so I don't die HappyGayTV, happy ! Just like Hervé, take over. Take part in our shows. Join us now! Now! Just like Hervé, take part in our shows. Create your account.

“I’m Not a Drag Queen”

Hello my French friends! - French? It's Walter, Walter the bookseller. I'm very well known in Belgium. - Belgium! I live in Wavre near Walibi. And I have a question for Yvette. - Well, yes, that's normal! Dear Yvette, In your song: "Reine de la Nuit" (Queen of the Night), You say you're not a Drag Queen, but Yvette, who are you?

Looking forward to meeting you. I love you ! - Looking forward to meeting you as well! I love Belgium! Belgium "Twelve points"! The song isn't called "La Reine de la Nuit" (Queen of the Night). The song is actually called: "I'm not a Drag Queen", because no, it's not, no, I am not a drag queen! I'm a woman who sings. That's it! I have a lot of respect for drag queens. I think they're wonderful artists who put themselves forward, who are magnificent,

who have many different talents. Me, I'm just a sweet little lady who sings. And that's it. What's more? I don't know. I don't consider myself to be, either, a transformist. or cross-dresser or drag queen. That's it! I'm just a woman who sings. Period! So, that's the only answer, it's concise! - Yes, it is! And on the other hand, I love them, even though I make fun of them quite a bit in

the song: "Je ne suis pas une Drag Queen", I'm really saying, well... That at times, I can be completely exuberant. I'm the queen of the night, la la la la, of course, with the music of Marie Paule Belle. And then I take a more serious tone, saying: "No, I'm a woman who sings". And that's all there is to it. My little ones, I would like to point out the following: to get to know Yvette Leglaire even better,

I have some very exciting news for you. Hold on tight! Yvette will be back on HappyGayTV soon, with her pianist, for a rehearsal that will be a banger, just like on a real TV show. She sings, she dances and do everything at the same time. She will also settle quite a few things, with her pianist! [Sung] They say I'm almost a hundred years old, I've been through all the wars - It's true! Yes, it's true! - It's true! All right, all right, don't be too pushy!

I haven't fought in all the wars either! 1870, 14-18, 39-45 ! Three wars! That's not all the wars! I didn't fight in the 100 Years' War, whereas Line Renault, given her age! [Laughter] I love Line Renault, she's like my sister! HappyGayTV, happy ! To make sure you don't miss Yvette's show, we've set up a reminder for all registered club members.

[Sung] I am the queen of the night I'm the cure for boredom As soon as I appear on a stage All your sorrows and pains fly away HappyGayTV!

Is “Place aux femmes” Feminist?

Yvette, it's Céline Aviani, and I have a question for you. - Great singer! - Would you say that your album "Place aux Femmes" is a feminist album? All the best for your project! - Ah, she's sweet! - I love her - She's so sweet! - I love her, I love her! - We'll have her on HappyGayTV soon. - That's great! Oh yes, of course! It's a must! [audience clamor and applause] I think she meant feminist as in.... militant album, not just...

Words can be a bit tricky for me, feminist, militant... No, it's actually a tribute to women. It's love for women, These are women's songs, because they bear feelings, women's feelings, images of women... There's the woman and then there's the man. We need both, or else, ... I agree that people should live with each other, everyone does what they want with their lives, their feelings, their emotions.

Even in the song: "Places aux femmes", I say it: all those women : "who have made us what we are, whether you're a woman or a man". Voilà, "without whom we'd be nobody"! So, women are also our mothers... , our sisters, our friends... - our cousins... Our good friends, our cousins, ... There you go, our aunties! It's an album for all women. And then, there is even a song

that I sing with Michal. The first song on the album, I thought to myself, I had to bring a man! And a real one! My Michal, whom I adore! And he kindly agreed, to perform the duet, the first song called : "Petit bout de femme". (Little piece of a woman) And I'm very grateful for that and very proud to have, my great friend Michal who accepted to sing with me. She was a little piece of woman, in a black dress, and crazy hair

She was a little piece of woman who, every evening, sung for you She had chosen the stage as some had chosen religion I admired her as one loves a queen and I lived through her songs HappyGayTV, happy ! Yvette Leglaire’s Dreams

Hello Yvette, it's Isa! So here's my little question, I know you have, many wishes. For example, you'd really like to, ... do some freaky things, you want to be a porn actress! You want us to come and take you on in the open trenches! These are songs! So, you're giving us a lot of things

in your latest album, but I'd really like to know, ... I'd like to know about dreams, Yvette Leglaire's dreams. A big kiss! - Ah! Ah, that's my Isa Ferrer! He's like my family! Yvette, what are your dreams? - It's funny, funny, because Isa, Isa! At your age, do we still have dreams? [Audience laughter and cheering]

Yes, I have dreams at night, but well, you know! I'm not going to share them! No, I think I've reached a point where I've... Oh, I'm not saying that, like earlier that it's a bonus, but, but, I don't know if I really have a dream? I don't want more than I've got! In other words, I want to go at my own pace. It was quite hard to make an album. But of course, when you're writing songs, you put a little bit of yourself in it.

When I sing, "I wish I'd been a porn actress", "Come take me on in the open trenches". There may be some, some small reminiscences of things. That I can't say - Is it something you've experienced? Something I've experienced, something I've lived? - Or something that came with wine, depending on the time! [Audience laughter and cheering] But I think it's it's all in good fun. Of course, I can only sing things that speak to me. Now, ...

there's nothing autobiographical about my songs. But there's a part of me that's in my writing, in my choice of lyrics and also with reference to... to who I am, that is, I'm an older woman, quite a bit... This album is said to be a bit sexual. Well, a lot of songs, slightly, slightly bold, but still...

It's important in life, you've got to go for it! I'm still a woman who loves! That's it, I love, I want to love. Well, maybe that's my dream! I still want to love, in every possible way. In other words, to love, to love others, as Barbara said : "I know how to love others! At least, I think I knew. To love a man, that I don't know.

I didn't have time". And maybe I don't know, maybe one day I'll love, me, Yvette Leglaire and not and not, what may possibly hide behind maybe one day, I'd love someone. For now, I love others. And, that's what's important in my life. [Sung] Come take me on in the open trenches For the motherland I'll give myself up Come ride me in the mud Bring Blaise, your other stud

Is the Album Really That Naughty?

Yvette's album is all about trifling. [Yvette laughs] So, does this match your sexuality? Well, it's true that, as you were just saying, Yvette, your album is quite corny! Here, I'll give you a few - Daring! a few song titles : "I wish I'd been a Porn Actress", "Your Armpits", "SexyYvette", "Come and take me on in the open trenches". "The Thruple Song" is my favorite.

"I'll be a slut", etc, etc. That's quite corny, isn't it? First of all, don't judge by the title! - Really? - Of course, the titles are quite catchy. - Yes... - Not all the songs you mentioned are sexual or dirty. So we can say it, we can't go into all the details, but for example: "Come and take me on in the open trenches". it's truly a love song, between a woman and the last of the poilus who's gone off to war. So, it's a completely sensitive and emotional song.

And in fact, just like in the trenches, they didn't fight during the day. they fought in the evening, after dark. During the day, they kept busy, singing bawdy songs. And so, there's a little bawdy song that I send him to kill time and I sing it next, because we women, we also had our own obstacle course, during the war. And then I sing it because it's the last of the poilus who died in my arms.

And so I sing it to his memory. So that's it, it's not a sexual song. There's a tiny, little gimmick with regards to bawdy songs Well, like the thruple song. It's still pretty bold! - It's not daring! This is what's really happening... Well, that's it. You know the thruple songs. I wrote a thruple song myself. - Yes, that's it! Because at one point you say: "When there's room for two, there's more room for three". and then : "When there's enough for three, there's enough for four".

- Yes! - And from the front to the back... [Laughter and cheers from the audience]. And then I stop, I think that's enough for me. So, I calm down. - Yes, yes! So is it a reflection of your sexuality? Not at all, not at all! I see... I, I didn't get to meet the wolf! [Laughter and cheers from the audience] No, I'm very nasty! And "I'll be a slut" has nothing to do with it. It's a song that says: "I'll be a slut and mind my nasty tongue". In other words, now I've decided

to say good things about everyone. You're beautiful. You really are. Your hair suits you! You don't have any anymore, but that's okay, it looks great. [Laughter and cheers from the audience]. That's it! The more you say nice things, even if it's too much, too much, well, people take it upfront and they all become nice to you. Everyone... Smile at life and it will smile back! That's exactly it. Nothing like it... It's not sexual.

I'll be a slut, and mind my nasty tongue. So, what I wanted to say to her anyway, is that, Yvette, I find your lyrics deep - Yes, they are! - And funny at the same time, and moving, It's not hard to go deep! [Laughter and cheers from the audience] And it's not sexual. - Exactly. [Sung] When there's enough for two, there's enough for three. I need him and I need you

Why Yvette Loves Intimate Venues

It's Esteban from Albi! - Yes! Hi Yvette! - Yes! After this wonderful new album, do you have any plans touring any time soon? Ah, what a lovely word, "on tour"! Not "turn on" or "twist and turn"! Careful! [Laughter and cheers from the audience]. Because people are already saying that my show, my album is very sexual! I don't go twist and turn, but I do go on tours! Actually, it's a bit different from other singers,

from my sisters who release albums, who have a production. And then they go on tour, with their musicians who play, say, 50 or 100 shows over the course of a year, a year and a half then come back. And then they wait, they make another album... I'm on tour all the time! Yvette, we were talking about your dreams earlier, are you planning to perform on a big Parisian stage? like, I don't know, the Olympia, - I don't know... Salle Pleyel, Grand Rex?

That's it.. Bercy. - Bercy! No, ... Not the new venues, they're too far away! I won't be able to get home after this! [Laughter and cheers from the audience]. Oh boy, it's terrible! Come on now, "La Scène Musicale"... Well, anyway! I live in the 12th district, Bercy suits me fine, [Laughter and cheers from the audience]. because afterwards, I walk home with my bags! [Laughter and cheers from the audience] - Great, great! - Actually,

I've never had any ambition, I just want to do this job, in a wonderful way. To do my job properly, which wasn't easy, because learning songs is quite complicated. It's complicated... - Especially writing them! - To write ... Well, you know! Everything, everything, everything... I was never perfect anyway. What's that supposed to mean, perfection, huh? Anyway!

Barbara used to say: "The day I know how to sing, I'll stop"! [Laughter and cheers from the audience] So! I'm moving on! Well, I'm moving on, but I'm scared, I'm moving on, I'm moving on. But I'm afraid. So I'm hoping to introduce the album, with a show at the Grand Point Virgule (Paris), because I can't do everything either. I've got to get the album out, do the promotion and we can't fill 500 and 600 seats at the same time. It's a job! - And what I wanted to say

- and prepare for the show. - What I wanted to tell you, Yvette, is that we'll put your dates on anyway, - Yes. - below, the video and we'll update as we go along... - As we go along. The problem, is that I also like to be close to the audience. And that's a bit of a handicap, because when you do big venues, I've done them. I played Bobino. I was so terrified at Bobino because I had 900 people and the show was over, I was packing up and everything, and then...

And then, where are they? [Laughter and cheers from the audience] So, you know.... And then you never see everyone. I need to see people. That's why I spent 13 years.., at Point Virgule, wonderful, because at Point Virgule, you can see everybody! Whether you have 20 people or 100 people. You see them all and that is wonderful. So...

More intimate, shall we say. All about sharing! We share more and more, it's even more difficult! You put me in front of 5,000 people, I won't be scared. I mean, I'll be scared, of course I'll be scared! But since we can't see the people, it doesn't matter. Here, you can see every glance. I've had it all, you know, at Point Virgule, I had one person go out.

You know, right in front of me! He just walked out. So, you're a bit worried and comes back a quarter of an hour later, telling you: I'm sorry, I'm having problems. Well, I had to go to the bathroom! [Laughter and cheers from the audience] Right, and it was for a quarter of an hour, you say to yourself: "why did he leave"? Is what I'm doing wrong? And actually, no, he just had a stomach bug!

[Laughter and cheers from the audience] - As long as no one dies in the room... - No, that's never happened to me! Sometimes, the good thing is ... This is called the third half, which means you do your show. And then afterwards, there's a little drink, often, when we play in cities, in town halls well, you know, and I spend two hours, three hours, with people having drinks, talking, to hear about their lives what they've understood did they like it? It's, my life ...

My life is people, that's it! I live for the public, I'm a public woman. Ah, that's it! [Sung] Come on everybody, get up! Everybody put your hands up, la la la la la la la And then you rubs your fingers, la la la la la la And then you cross your arms, la la la la la la la Come on, put your head down, and shake your ponytails! Yvette Leglaire: “I Am a Woman”

Yes, hi Yvette. It's Fabien from Le Baroque (Paris) - Ah Fabien from Le Baroque! - I know you have Yes, my darling. - quite an attachment to women. I've got a question for you: do you regret not being born a woman? Sorry, but I'm a woman! [Yvette laughs] But come on, Fabien, when I sing, I'm a woman! Here we go ! [sung]: "I am all women

I live your joys and melodramas. I'm sentimental and sometimes, womanly, too." There you have it, Dalida: "I am all women". This song, is the answer to your question. I'm a woman, I'm all women. But then... if you look around everywhere... Any human being... We shouldn't go looking for what's hidden behind, except that maybe, I'm allowed to say things that... only women, shall we say, born women, to make you happy, wouldn't have the right to say, because there's the little distance

the small humoristic touch, the little... the little wink, which means I'm entitled too...

to a little extra. I'm very proud to feel a singer and a woman when I sing. But above all a singer! Because I live the emotions I've felt when I went to see Dalida on stage, when I went to see Barbara on stage, when I went to see Anne Sylvestre on stage, when I went to see Mama Béa on stage, I feel their emotions, I live their lives! That's what's so important! I live their lives on a personal level because...

I'll never have the success they've had! I'll never achieve the popularity that they had, being venerated, sometimes! But life is not over. - Yes, but that's - Because your last album, is still excellent. I mean... Yes, but I'm not looking for that either. It's always the tiny one, the smallest person in the room and who's, who's completely, who sees them, who's completely in love.

There, it's those women, these singers who gave me life, who made me grow. That's it! Maybe... one day, I'll write about my personal life, but... It's the women who, who may have replaced, ... let's say the women I didn't have. Whether it's about childhood, etc. You know what I mean! These women knew, how to give me what I didn't have.

Oh dear, I'm saying things! [Yvette laughs] But I feel it. And these women, they're so important to me, because without them... I wouldn't be, I'd be nobody! HappyGayTV, happy ! Rumours, Cats and What’s Next

Madame Leglaire, people say that you eat kittens for breakfast. Is this true? I didn't understand his question at all! Is that Bastien? - Yes, it is! So, Bastien is asking, "Is it true that you eat kittens for breakfast? - Pfffft! Nonsense! [Marco laughs] I told you the strangest one would be at the end. So why would I eat

kittens for breakfast? - I don't know. -First of all, I love cats. -Yes! I love cats. I think they're the most wonderful animals on earth. They're so close to us. I've had two or three cats in my life and I've got a pussy too. [Laughter and cheers from the audience] And that's it! You don't have to look at me like that!

[Laughter and cheers from the audience] And I think of my little pussy that I got from an animal rights organization. She was a very old cat already who had been found on a bus, a Persian cat that was in a very bad condition because we know what Persian cats are like, when they're not cared for, they're... Or even any cat!

And I saved her. I kept her for a year, but I lived in a small apartment. When I went to the Avignon Festival in 2019, I left her with two friends who have a big, big apartment and they'd recently lost their cat and they told me... - Shall we keep her? - We'll keep her. And I'm very proud because she was at least 13 years old. And she's still here today! She's crazy. She's a bit like me, kind of crazy,

what a pussycat. She's very amusing, very, very amusing. What I find interesting in Bastien's question is that: "Evil people say...". Are there people saying things about Yvette, that aren't true? Oh well, of course! Of course! that's always the problem, isn't it! When you start getting a little bit famous, people say ... Yes, but people say things, about me.

That's pretty, that's pretty surprising. But what can I tell you? it's no big deal. Listen, I'm moving on. That's it, I'm trying not to look too far behind. and take it one step at a time, I don't want to, I don't want to look too far ahead, either. You know! What's important is the present and the beginning of the future, after that, everything else... "Pooou, la la! Thank you, Yvette. That's the end of the show.

Already! I didn't say anything. I didn't have time to talk! [Marco laughs] - Yeah, yeah. I just wanted to let you know we'll be seeing you in an exceptional show, where you'll be, rehearsing with your pianist. [Music] [Sung] They say I'm almost a hundred years old I've been through all the wars [Chorus] It's true, It's true!

All this, coming soon on HappyGayTV. And if you want a sneak preview, of the next episode with Yvette Leglaire, join the HappyGayTV Club, and you'll get all the HappyGayTV news! The next female singers we'll be interviewing. - No, no more! -Singers! - No, not after me! And of course we count on all your questions, on the Hot-Line, your comments on this show

and as for us, my little Loulous, - My little loulous! - See you soon, Excuse me, I know Riri, Fifi, Loulou But you only talk about Loulous? There you go! That's the way it is! just like that. - You're not Riri, Fifi... Well, they're in the Loulous! - All right! Voilà... - Riri, Fifi, Loulou... My little loulous, this is goodbye. Take good care of yourselves and see you soon,

for the next HappyGayTV Show with Yvette Leglaire, -Again? And another HappyGayTV & You! [Sung] Squares about Women From all generations Squares about women So we never forget their names Squares about women To those who gave hope To those who changed history Let them keep a place in our memories Squares about women I grew up in the islands, the enchanted islands

I was Miss Brazil First beauty prize I grew up in the islands I've traveled a lot Ibiza, Tahiti, Corfu and Noirmoutier [Choirs] Noirmoutier Hello Paris, finally I've left the countryside It was hell, not even champagne I was tired of going to bed like the chickens and living like a hermit Away from the crowd

I am the queen of cabarets From Paris, from Lille, from Roubaix Every evening, I lead the way around nearly naked dancers You can give me jewelry I don't care, I don't care Kissing me all over I don't care I don't care Because what I like about you It's when you smell under your arms I don't give a damn I need to have two halves When there's enough for two
