Discover the Rainbow Flag: Symbol of LGBT Diversity and Deep Meaning of the Gay Flag
The rainbow flag, known as the rainbow flag, is a unifying symbol of the LGBTQI+ community. It eloquently represents the diversity that characterizes it.
It is precisely for this reason that we want to put this symbol in the spotlight today. Not only is he mentioned in this show, in response to a question posed on our interactive platform, the Hot-Line, which is one of the unique elements of HappyGayTV and which you can discover here.
But it is also because the rainbow flag, this rainbow flag associated with the gay community, was symbolically attacked during the tragedy that occurred on November 22, 2022 at Club Q, in Colorado Springs in the United States, a LGBTQI+ nightclub which was a real little paradise where all the different communities gathered.
That's why we chose to illustrate this show with a somewhat provocative image: the rainbow flag riddled with bullets, representing the five impacts that claimed the lives of five people.
Finally, the choice of this symbol fits perfectly with the spirit of HappyGayTV & You (6), since it is the first time that we welcome, in the same program, people from different backgrounds and different countries, addressing a wide variety of topics that have been voiced via the Hotline:
In the program :
Your happiness video messages In what way, the fact that our programs are subtitled in French and English, is likely to bring us closer to a category of people, often neglected even within the LGBT community A gay construction game Colorado Springs and your reactions and questions. Update on all the flags of the LGBT community And finally a surprise message arrived on the Hot-Line which broadens the perspectives of HappyGayTV and which, as we hoped, promises a bright future for our channel!
Rainbow Flag (LGBT)
The Rainbow flag, also known as the Gay Pride Flag, was created by Gilbert Baker and made its first appearance in 1978. Its first version initially had eight colors. However, due to technical constraints related to the manufacture of the color pink, the flag was reduced to seven colors and then finally to six.
It is this definitive version that we all know today. The flag was first flown at protests in the United States, including Gay Pride in San Francisco. Its use increased dramatically following the assassination of gay San Francisco City Councilman Harvey Milk on November 27, 1978. Since then, it has become not only the flag of Gay Pride, but also the flag of the whole LGBT community.
Other flags then appeared:
- The 1992 Bear Community Flag
- The Bisexual Flag 1998
- The Labrys Lesbian Flag of 1999
- The 1999 Trans Flag
And, since 2010 a multitude of flags for the sub-communities have been created. We have counted a total of 56 flags such as:
- The Androgynous Flag
- The Apogenre Flag
- The Allied Heterosexual Flag
- The Progress Pride Flag
- The Rubber Latex Flag / Rubber Fetish - Latex (1995)...
Queer Eye: The Game
The gay community is characterized by its diversity, whether in terms of flags, topics covered or hobbies. In this video, we explore this diversity by highlighting one of the passions of one of our followers: construction games, and more particularly the one that consists of recreating the setting of the famous show Queer Eye. We'll be watching the unboxing and can't wait to see the end result in an upcoming HappyGayTV & You show!
Club Q Colorado Springs, November 19, 2022
Our followers were deeply moved when they recalled the deadly attack that took place at the Q Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado in the United States. The tragedy took place on a special evening held in commemoration of Transgender Day of Remembrance, celebrated around the world on November 20. On our show, we will address topics such as community unity and freedom of speech, particularly in response to the vile comments made by the assailant's father. It is with deep emotion that we will address these crucial questions.

Show transcript
Hello my little ones! Hello to all! In a moment, we are going to take a look all together, at your messages left on the Hot-Line. As you know, what makes HappyGayTV so special, is that we have created a kind of TV forum, a web answering machine, that allows you to leave us directly on our servers, either an audio message, or a video message. And it is actually these messages, left recently
on this beautiful tool, ie, the Hot-Line, that we will check out right away in this new episode of of the HappyGayTV & You, episode number six. Throughout this episode, we have a wide variety of messages, with first of all, your videos or messages, that I named "happiness". We'll talk among other things about the subtitling of HappyGayTV videos, of gay construction games.
In a slightly less happy note, you have, or at least some of you, reacted to the shooting at the club Q, one of the LGBT nightclubs, in Colorado Springs, in the United States. Thankfully, after that, we'll get back on a more optimistic note, with a specific question about the different flags of the LGBT community, and God knows how much are there! And last but not least, a real surprise for all the HappyGayTV team,
but also for you guys, following us for some time now, a surprise that augurs well for the future of our channel. Surprise, surprise! Stay tuned until the end. And for starters, a first video from the happiness collection, coming directly from Belgium. Hi Marco, Hi Roseline, it's Nico! This quick message is just to send you to send you my support,
because I think HappyGayTV is really a great initiative! The stories you guys share are always beautiful, positive, constructive. Great experiences, very rich and valuable ones, in my opinion for the viewers and most importantly they are always touching and sincere. I really enjoy watching your stories, I think it's really a a beautiful initiative. So there you go, keep it up,
I hope to see a lot more. See you soon and happy holidays to you both. Bye! Nicolas, I applaud you for your video. Thank you for showing us the landscape surrounding your home, through this nice travelling shot. To make sure everyone understand your message, where you talk about Roseline, I just want to point out two things : First of all, that you are one of the early fans, and that therefore,
you had the privilege to watch, in preview, a show that will be called HappyGayTV Show, and it's going to be online, once the HappyGayTV website is fully launched. Secondly, it turns out that in this show, I'm not alone. Well, yes, indeed, you will all find out about Roselyne. So who is Roselyne?
Well, Roselyne is supposed to be my secretary. Her task will be to comment on the so-called messages received during the show. This is the "Smile" sequence, not to say, "the big burst of laughter" and this segment will often be about rather heavy topics, if not serious. But let's not forget that we are on HappyGayTV and that therefore we always try to set set the bar a little higher with respect to everything that we talk about, and try to finish with a smile.
So, it seemed to be quite obvious for the entire team. We absolutely had to add a sequence that is both funny and enjoyable to this show, a sequence that ultimately turned out to be totally vital. And I'm not hiding it from you, Nicolas, I'm happy that you are already a fan of Roselyne. And what I also wanted to tell you, is that his character will be growing even more. Yes, in fact, we're all going to witness a beautiful physical transformation,
as the different episodes will be released. Yes, because intellectually speaking, no hope on that side, she's totally broken ! I could even say, that the evolution of her intelligence will be inversely proportional to the layers of makeup that will follow her transformation! In fact, Roselyne is convinced that even though being on HappyGayTV, the world is exclusively heteronormative, and that I am completely crazy about her,
particularly when it pleases her! She even thinks she has systematically her chance with almost all the speakers in this show even though most of them are gay! Just so you know! She never misses a single chance! So, you who are watching us, if you want, just like Nicolas, to be one of the first to watch this new show that will be available soon on HappyGayTV, ie, the HappyGayTV Show, I invite you to join the HappyGayTV Club,
our VIP club. This way, you will be able to enjoy many privileges, such as being able to to watch other shows in preview. But also, of course, to be kept updated on the launch of this show which will be at the same time of the website's launch, in its almost complete version. So, to not miss anything, sign up right now for the HappyGayTV Club, it's right over here! Hello everyone!
I read the article about "Just a matter of love" First of all, since I'm deaf, I would like to thank Marco in sign language just like this: "Marco" (in sign language). for his interest in communicating with his HappyGayTV website with all of us, for all these efforts, for the subtitles. This article gave me the desire to speak out It's interesting to see that, till this day, many people still, use any dating application
to flirt or find love! The selection criteria, not worth it, if it's to find true love! If it's for dating it's a good way to find a partner or several! In life, it's all about feelings between 2 human beings! No matter, their preferences, their desires their shape and condition,
their situation, their disabilities ... The most important thing is to know how to always communicate! I would like to acknowledge one thing: Great love, is really and simply, a matter of love between two people Good luck, and see you soon! Sébastien, I am very happy that thanks to French and English subtitles on every HappyGayTV video,
you can keep up with our shows and the messages of our followers and thus be able to contribute, you too, in this great conversation that we are carrying out on HappyGayTV. I won't lie to you, that we put a lot of effort, to subtitle our episodes, not only to help those who around the world would be interested in our shows, but who might not be necessarily very capable to understand these two languages;
a written support, in this case, comes always as a plus in fact ! when we first decided to subtitle our videos, I figured that this could help too, all those who have difficulties understanding, because of their hearing impairment. So, Sebastien, your video moved me very much. But more than that, what I admire is the smile,
the joy you show while you are recording this message. And I understand that you are a truly liberated man. At least, that's what you show to the world, in your video. In fact, I am very admiring to see, that despite your handicap, you had the courage to contact us and to film yourself. But not only that, you've managed as a gay man, to build yourself a seemingly happy life.
And quite frankly, I don't know if, have I been in your shoes, I would've accomplished the same things. Besides, I also completely agree with what you say regarding the show that we previously issued, where we mentioned the shortcomings and the dangers of social networking websites amongst gay people. Yes, let's also pay attention to what our intuition
tells us, I completely agree with you! So, bravo Sébastien ! Next, I wanted to add a slight clarification to all those who suffer from same handicap as you. When HappyGayTV was created, we thought at one point, to bring in someone who would speak French sign language.
But this implied that we also had to film another video in English sign language, which would have required a lot of work and also a pretty significant budget. That's why we decided to go with subtitles, much more easier to set up on a technical level, and most of all much less expensive. To conclude, I hope Sebastien that other people with the same handicap as you, will come and join us,
because you too have the right to speak up! And I am sure that you have extraordinary things to share with us. Sebastian, we are all waiting for more messages from you. For example, I would be curious to know how, despite this heavy handicap, you still managed to achieve a fulfilling life. What was your formula, your journey, and the questions you asked yourself
and the answers you brought up? So, Sébastien, see you soon I hope and expect other messages from you just as beautiful as this one. Bye bye Sébastien! Hi guys, I hope you are well. So I'm sharing with you, my special purchase, quite regressive, it feels good and is also all about the gay life, bringing in a HappyGayTV mood, I believe. So, I treated myself with these beautiful Queer Eyes!
I love it! It's with... We can see the loft of the famous show from Netflix, a show promoting benevolence, self-confidence. So, in a very, very queer spirit but in HappyGay, that's it! I wanted to share with this. I think I had a lot of fun, it's very soothing, it feels good, we do not make a fuss about it, we have fun,
we enjoy ourselves and that's all that matters. A big kiss to all! Ciao ciao! Chris 92, I admire your creativity and enthusiasm for leaving us almost in every episode great messages on the Hot-Line. One day you're filming us a surprise, at your summer trip, in the Canary Islands. In the next one, you're talking about a book you read. And today,
about a construction game for gays. Bravo Chris 92! I really want to congratulate you, for really understanding why we have created the hotline. Helping each other is also talking about our passions, our hobbies and our interests! And moreover, it is enriching for all of us! And I'll tell you a confession, I was far from expecting that this famous brand,
which we won't mention, produced this kind of game, especially for the LGBT community. And a great gift idea for yourself, or for someone you love... Chris 92, I hope you will have a great time creating this home sweet home, and don't forget to send us a quick video, once you finish building everything ! We are looking forward to the result with anticipation!
Hello, I'm leaving this message to tell you, that a few days ago, there was a shooting in a club in the United States. It was some customers who subdued the guy, before the police arrived. We're stronger together, and we have to stop living in smaller groups. We are a community in its entirety. That's it, goodbye kisses, kisses! Hi Marco! It's Minouche!
I would like to talk about the shooting that took place in the United States in a gay club in November, and especially about the words of the suspect's father, who murdered at least five people, who reportedly expressed relief, upon learning that his son was the murderer, and not a homosexual, client of the club! Do we know where these words have led to? words that are completely homophobic? And has he been prosecuted for what he said?
Now, where are we at? Thank you. Ludo, I would like to thank you for your message. I completely agree with you, for the fact that we have to, more than ever stick together, we gays and LGBT people against adversity. Now, I would like to know why, are you implying that we aren't united? Please explain what this is about, on what kind of information are your assertions based on?
Unless, it's just a personal impression. In this case, I would really like from you to tell us a little bit more about it. Anyways, thank you for your message. No matter what, unity is strength, so let's stay alert just like the sentinels, against adversity and let's all stick together. That being said, on this matter, regarding the unity of the LGBT community,
I'll come back to almost at the end of the show with Juju's, question just before the surprise I told you about. As for you Minouche, I completely agree with the fact that you feel offended by what the murderer's father said. Why so much hate? Eventually, we can say that this is the question you're asking me. Well, I have two answers to give you. First of all, I think it's cultural. Indeed, let's not forget that most of the religions down here,
the ones that have shaped our civilizations, whether we like it or not, have never, ever, been gay-friendly. Secondly, it's true that the fact to rather have his son be a murderer than gay is completely shocking, even despicable. But I think I have an explanation for this and this is actually a personal opinion of mine. Well, I think that people who take this kind of attitude, the ones who suffer from a kind of homophobia so extreme
using homophobic statements utterly revolting, in my opinion, never made peace with their own homosexuality. Once the HappyGayTV Club is fully launched, you'll see that I've filmed a story about it, where I explain my personal theory. Now, this is just my opinion and I don't claim, to have the ultimate knowledge. So, I can imagine that you can have a whole different opinion on the matter. That's why,
I'm waiting for all your comments on this topic, on the hotline! And Minouche, as far as the fact that whether the father is convicted or not for his heinous statements, it's a pretty tricky legal argument that will certainly be left unanswered. Unless I'm mistaken, in the United States, freedom of speech is absolute. Here in France, for example, it is too, but with some restrictions. For example,
you can't make statements that are racist or homophobic. So I have every reason to believe that this man will not be convicted, because his words have never been spoken in France. Only a lawyer could inform us, in fact! So, if someone among our followers has the answer, or any additional information to give us on this topic, at the risk of repeating myself, please make use of the Hot-Line to share your opinion with us,
your comments, your message in video format or in audio.
Hi Marco, hi everyone! A quick note on the Rainbow Flag, that everybody knows. Among the many meanings that we can apply to it, I recently learned, that every color actually has, its own meaning. There is red for life, orange for health, yellow for sunshine,
green for nature, blue for harmony and serenity, and then purple for the spirit. That's it, that was a quick one. Now, there are all the other variations of the Rainbow Flag, for all LGBT communities or sub-community. It would be interesting to know about all the meanings of these different flags. Okay! That's it, big kisses, to everybody! Yes, Juju just asked a big question.
Just to give you an idea, on earth there are 324 countries in the world, so 324 flags, and no less than 50 flags, for the LGBTQI+ community. Unless I'm mistaken, I counted a total of, 56, I repeat, 56! So it's clear, that we can't show all of them! However, what you need to know, is that initially,
before the 2000s, there were only four flags, not counting the one from the Bear community! The most famous one, of course, is the LGBT flag, which was introduced in 1979. Then came in 1998, the bisexual flag. One year later, the first ever lesbian flag and the following year, in 1999, the trans flag.
Then, since some people didn't really find their self in it, starting from 2010 many new flags appeared, and I must admit I don't know all of them, and I don't think I can even remember them. I've selected a few for you, at random. Here, for example the lesbian rainbow flag, or this one the LGBT homo flexible flag, this one which is easy to remember, the LGBT intersex flag.
There's also this one which is the LGBT Progress Pride Flag, another one which is the Rubber Latex, Pride LateX, rubber community flag! That's right! I even found a flag for androgynous people and even an LGBT or apogenre flag. And finally, the LGBT heterosexual ally flag. And quite frankly, not to keep anything from you Juju, I'm a bit confused in all these definitions. And when I see all these flags,
I agree a bit with Ludo's idea, who said a few moments ago that we should stay united. It's good that each community has a flag, but what about our unity against adversity, including the recent events that showed us that everything revolves around it? Don't you think wars start, with two armies fighting for different flags? So, if there was to be only one left, my favorite,
it's the one that is the root of everything. The one that was outed in 1979. The LGBT rainbow flag as it's the one which unites us all. Thanks Juju for your ever relevant and very instructive topics.
Hello, Marco! Alfred speaking! I am African, as you know, I am black. I live abroad, and ... I'm gay, as you know! I want to thank you for the network that you are creating, bringing the gay community together, creating acceptance, an awareness, creating, you know, a kind of balance,
ok! You know, before, people used to say that gays were crazy people, unfit for a society, things ! But, I am grateful for the efforts efforts you are making to better position ourselves on the map. I tell you, I really appreciate your efforts. I can't come and visit you at the moment, as I have work to do. I'm at the office
I appreciate your efforts, and I'm a big fan, okay? Oh, I also have a fan! Roselyne won't be happy. I feel like she's going to lead me into a competition and seize the opportunity to ask me for a raise, especially if she has more fans than I do, it's going to be hard! More seriously Alfred, your message touches me particularly because this is the very first message in English that we received!
And for us as for all our followers, it's a very nice and pleasant surprise. And not hiding from you Alfred, that with all these episodes subtitled in English, we were getting a little bit desperate that we didn't have non-French-speaking member on the Hot-Line. Well, now thanks to you it's all taken care of, and I thank you very much. I also would like to thank you for your compliments that I will forward to the HappyGayTV team,
This is a beautiful message of encouragement! and most of all Alfred feel free to share this episode, and let people know around you, that everyone has the right to express themselves on HappyGayTV, on the Hot-Line, while showing respect to each other, and even those who are, as you say in your message, "abroad" in overseas, since we always wanted to take HappyGayTV . to an international dimension. So Alfred, share the address of our website
HappyGayTV.com, with all your gay friends, all over the world. And just like Nicolas who came in at the very beginning of the episode, I see that you have well analyzed what we are doing and that you have understood why, we created HappyGayTV and I applaud you for it. So, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to sell the concept properly, to the entire gay community around you. Alfred, regarding the fact that you would like to
to meet me, I think it would be appropriate in the future that we should to try to get together, meaning the HappyGayTV team and all of you, followers, for a celebration, for example, a seminar, a conference, whatever... And that would be, in my opinion an excellent idea. Well, we just need to find the budget and the reason for it. But rest assured, we're really thinking about it. This will allow the HappyGayTV team to meet all of you, actually!
Not only those who leave us messages on the Hot-Line, but also those who are subscribed to the HappyGayTV Club, without ever venturing on the air. And it's really up to you now, I'm talking to you now, to all of you who subscribed recently and who follow us regularly. We would love to see your small face, or at least hear your voice and mostly what you have to tell us.
So go ahead, feel free to use the Hot-Line, you'll see, it's easy and even fun. That's it, my little ones. On that note, let's say goodbye. It was a great show with followers who came from all from all walks of life, with a wide variety of topics and I find that absolutely exciting! To keep the show going.., now you know what you all have to do, drop us a little message on the HappyGayTV Hot-Line.
Go ahead, don't hesitate, you'll see, everything is clear, very simple, it's free, and it works 24 hours a day. And as you figured it out, it's open to everyone and you can express yourself as we have seen, in French, as well as in English. The entire team is waiting now impatiently for your messages. And on that note, my little ones I send you kisses, see you soon and take good care of yourself!
Ciao, ciao!
